WHERE: We sail at the Belle Johnston Community Center Pond:

Drive SOUTH on I-77 to I-485 toward Pineville
Take EXIT 65B from I-485 toward Pineville
Continue onto N Polk Street for 0.7 miles
Turn RIGHT onto Main Street (NC-51) for 0.2 miles
Turn LEFT onto Johnston Drive and continue for about 0.5 miles to park

WHEN: We sail most Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:30AM to 12:30PM. Occasionally we will host intra-club and/or regional Regattas at our site too.
WHAT: We race the Kyosho SeaWind, Joysway DragonFlite 95 (DF95), and East Coast 12-Meter (EC12) Radio Controlled Yachts. See our schedule for which boat we are sailing on a particular day. Below is information about the boats from some of the manufacturers:
The SeaWind Readyset is currently not available for purchase, but manufacturer has not discontinued production of the boat as far as we know. The club has been purchasing and retrofitting used SeaWinds that are available for purchase. A new SeaWind Readyset comes with pre-painted ABS hull in a black-red color scheme and rigged ready to assemble with installed electronics and a 2.4 Ghz radio. The quality of design and fittings continue to make the SeaWind an excellent fleet boat with enough performance potential to satisfy even the most discriminating skipper. The SeaWind COA has demonstrated a strong organization with active fleets in all AMYA Regions and an active annual program of Regional and National Championship Regattas. The Class Rules tightly control the boat elements to ensure new skippers are not faced with a costly refit to be competitive while allowing minor modifications to rigging (materials and adjustment methods) to facilitate tuning and to the hatch cover to ensure watertight integrity.
The DragonFlite 95 can be purchased at the Motion RC website. The DragonFlite 95 by Joysway delivers a truly "Race Ready" experience. Every aspect of the DragonFlite 95 has been developed with very latest radio sailing design concepts, construction, and components for a first-class radio sailing experience, right out of the box! Everything needed to sail is included in the kit, all you need to do is add batteries and go sailing! (For Plug and Play model, Transmitter/receiver required!) The DragonFlite 95 uses cutting edge components not found in other manufactured RC Yacht models including:
- Carbon fiber keel fin, advanced design keel bulb
- Shroud less, keel step, one piece carbon mast
- Mylar Sails
The DragonFlite 95 is a yacht designed to be a convenient size, on and off the water. It’s light weight and long, narrow hull give it the kind of light wind performance most other radio yachts can only dream of. The downside of this lightweight design approach would normally be an inability to perform in strong winds, we have countered this by designing low aspect, lightweight rigs with careful sail plan development to ensure perfect handling balance. Even when the boat is overpowered it still remains easily controllable to windward and always has astonishing speed downwind with almost no tendency to ‘nosedive’.
The EC12 is a one-design radio-controlled yacht about 59 inches in length, a mast standing 72 inches above the deck, supporting about 1300 square inches of sail and weighing around 24 pounds. The class is one the premier R/C Yachts in the American Model Yachting Association. The Class is well organized energetic and active with over 400 members hosting regattas throughout the East Coast and the Midwest.
